The Kid Stakes is based on the Fatty Finn comic strip drawn by Syd Nicholls for the Sydney Sunday News, until his death in 1977. Syd Nicholls is featured in the opening scenes, sketching a cartoon of Fatty.

This charming film is one of the all too few surviving features from Australia's prolific silent film heritage. It's enhanced by the witty inter-titles and gentle humour of the story.

This is unique as a silent film because it is a full feature aimed at children and includes wonderfully fresh performances by the young actors. There are also sub-plots to entertain the adults. Because it was based on the well-known comic strip, The Kid Stakes was very popular at the time

The amusing story centres on the exploits of rivals Fatty Finn and Bruiser Murphy and their gangs who play in the backstreets of Woolloomooloo. Girlfriend troubles, cricket with the local police, a broken window and a chase scene are all part of the action, which culminates with an authentic goat race including bribes and attempts to nobble Fatty's goat, Hector.

This film has all the elements that make the medium such a delight. There's the chase scene, cheeky inter-titles, a tin can band, a dream sequence including Fatty imagining he's a racing car driver, and the genuine goat race, which was actually called the Kid Stakes, filmed in Queensland. It was quite common for silent filmmakers to include actuality in the narrative of their films. Goat races were popular at the time, but this one was filmed in Rockhampton because these races were banned in New South Wales when the film was made.

The Kid Stakes is the only feature film directed by Tal Ordell, who was a popular stage and screen character actor. His son, Robin 'Pop', played the role of Fatty. Location shots in Woolloomooloo and Potts Point illustrate the living standards and social conditions at the time.

Todd Strasser's novel THE WAVE has been a classic of youth literature for more than 20 years. It's based on a true story: In 1967 a high school teacher in California demonstrated how easy it is to convert normal kids into fascist devotees. The book was made into an Emmy-winning TV movie in 1981. Now German director Dennis Gansel has moved the story to Germany for his terrifying take on the same story. THE WAVE stars Jürgen Vogel in the role of the teacher.SHORTCUTS

Better than any ufc fight is the fistmaster of all time, duke Fightmaster the only possible choice to fill in for Conan Obrien. When Duke Fightmaster replaces obrien in 2009 the people can only say one thing,"Fist me!"

Patrick Keane (Craig Fergeson) and really rich soc has been a rival of Duke's who was just one of the regular soc's, for some time. Daniel Day lewis ais big winner but not as big as Duke Fightmaster who can be more dramatic than the big oscar winners of the dark film genre and the character acting by sexxy arron is far greater than the chick from juno and the song at the end of the movie has nothing on Jonah edges "vaudville" by colliding Hearts. Camilla Belle is obviously one of the first people the replacement for conan wants on his show. Duke by far surpasses jimmy fallen and Ryan, Duke and Lesley should be picked up as a new cast member on saturday night live immediately. There is a few characters on SNL that could be replaced. Duke might not be as talented as some of those actors but is far more funnier. Alicia Keys can never perform live as elegantly as Jonah edge in colliding hearts, alicia keys superbowl performance should be something The hearts would blow away. Tom Petty and petty's superbowl performance at halftime is something that Duke would like to see on his show. The same energy of a superbowl halftime crowd is about the equivalent of half the energy the person to replace conan obrien has in his audience. Bottom line is that Duke Fightmaster audience members are crazy and know how to party harder than any one. What do you say redbull, how about a sponsorship. How do we become youtube partners and how do we get a lot of views on youtube without using spam. That is the question and this is the secret law of attraction that will meditate on the visualization of many views high ratings lots of links and high traffic. Check your local travel deals to find the best deal on a ticket to laguna beach for the best live audience experience in the world bar non, not even leno. Jay nor letterman have an audience half as pumped as the fightmaster fanatics. Duke is one of the best baby names, Gone with the wind is a movie that people really call a classic in the same sense of the word that they would use with Duke. Duke is a vegitarian vegetarian and would be happy to share recipes while he believes that Jack Black and be kind rewind should definitely should promote on the duke fightmaster show. Sexy aaron will speak to anyone on weight training and whole grains. This is not a drink urine for health video as seen on howard stern.

Australian / UK co-production LIKE MINDS is an intelligent mystery textured with historical facts and psychological theory. Set in an exclusive British boarding school, Gregory READ's first feature film began life as a documentary about psychopaths.

Alex Forbes (Eddie REDMAYNE), a socially well-adjusted and brilliant "A" student is accused of murdering his school-mate Nigel Colby (Tom STURRIDGE). However, all the evidence is circumstantial, thus compelling Detective McKenzie (Richard ROXBURGH) to call in forensic Psychologist Sally Rowe (Toni COLLETTE). She is under instruction to find evidence to prove Alex's guilt. Instead what Sally finds is an intriguing tale of entangled relationships that cite the history of Knights Templar, the mythology of 'Maraclea' and most importantly Gestalt theory.
