This list is based solely on comics, not films.

Oh yes, no one messes with Magneto. Arguably one of the best beat em up arcade games ever to grace a boardwalk or theme park, X-Men sucked up more of my quarters than any other game except maybe Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

So X-Men is another beat em up, fighting various enemies from the Marvel Universe like miniaturized Sentinels and various members from the Brotherhood of Mutants. Although this came out right around the time of the hugely successful 90's X-Men show, this game was modeled after the failed "Pryde of the X-Men" pilot that ran in the 1980s. You know the one where wolverine is Australian.
The characters sport the old costumes and all of the villains are allied with Magneto, even though it doesn't always make much sense.

To mix things up, each character gets their own mutant power to use during combat which helps clear the screen of enemies. Cyclopes gets his optic blast of course, Wolverine has a ranged slicing attack, Storm controls cyclones, Nightcrawler can move all over the screen and the Dazzler uses her energy attacks.

Depending on the version of the game, you could potentially play all six characters simultaneously.

Sometimes, I like to play games alone, but clearly this game is an exception. Nothing beats taking on Magneto with 5 other people in an epic battle.

It's a real shame this arcade game never received a port to consoles. If they had added a few additional levels and maybe an extra character or two, it could have been a great game.

Regardless, if you see this game around the arcade, play it and thank me later.

Hey all welcome back. I'm Sticky Sweater and today I'm going to talk about a rather controversial game, X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse for the Super Nintendo.

Before comic book movie summers were common place, fans got their fix from other places: TV shows, action figures and of course, games and man were there a lot of them! I'd guess to say only about 25 percent of them were any good and X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse was one of the better ones, or at least one of the best looking games of the time.

X-Men games have always been pretty linear but this game at least gives you the choice of which character you want to play first, although you do have to play through them all. Later you get to choose which character you'd like to play for each level.

I'm not gonna lie to you, the controls are a little stiff, particularly on the less nimble characters like Cyclops and Beast, but Wolverine and Psylock handle pretty well, with Gambit being a middle of the road character.

The best part about this game is that it's an X-Men game, and when you've gotta have that x-gene fix, you'll be willing to make that sacrifice. The second best part of the game is the visuals. The characters are huge, which makes for a lot of detail on our heroes. Even if it's not quite as expansive as you might like.

You get to fight a lot of the series' biggest villains, including Sentinels, Juggernaut, Omega Red, Apocalypse and of course Magneto.

On the negative side, the game could have used more characters, and even though the sprites are beautiful, more viewing space would have been better.

I'd say if you have the option, consider X-Men for the Sega Genesis instead, but if you've had your fill of that, this might satisfy your platforming X-Men urges.

EDIT: Since I'm a stickler for doing things twice if they aren't done right the first time, I'm redoing this battle, because Darkflare revealed how to turn off Ayu's cheap mode, so next time, no Magno.

"Juggy, why the hell you always tryin to fuck up my game, I'm here tryin to get busy, and you had to bring Magno?"

I'm not very good at finding Japanese MUGEN Characters, so I couldn't find Ayu, so I decided that Juggernaut would borrow Magneto for this battle. Now, since this is an all X-Men Villain battle, I figure that it has to be an all X-Men Character fight. But then I decided not to and make it Iceman and Charlie/Nash again. I know, I know, backlash, his name is Nash when I'm dealing with P.o.t.S characters, I'm aware. And I apologize to anyone I've messed with. :P

Juggernaut, as you can imagine (and you have seen, see Tag Battle: Splode), is tough to take down. His Head Crush takes a huge chunk out of your life, and plus he can combo. Dammit, that's just not right. Magneto on the other hand, has one quality that I decided to use as I put him first. He gets 5 Power right away since he's from MvC2.

I believe this battle deserves a rematch when I can find a different combination of the team to fight, such as I'm still trying to accomplish with Team Neo Fighters.
