"Baat Ek Raat Ki" [1962] is an Indian Hindi film directed by Shankar Mukherjee. Starring Dev Anand and Waheeda Rehman. Music is by S D Burman.... Hemanta Kumar Mukhopadhyay (Bangla: Hemonto Kumar Mukhopaddhae) also known as Hemanta Mukherjee (June 16, 1920 - September 26, 1989) was an Indian singer, composer and producer. He sang in Hindi films under the name Hemant Kumar. ...... ....In September 1989, Hemanta travelled to Dhaka, Bangladesh to receive the Michael Madhusudan Award. He performed a concert in Dhaka as well. Immediately after returning from this trip, Hemanta suffered a major cardiac arrest on September 26th and breathed his last at 11:15 pm in a nursing home in South Calcutta. Interestingly, even 15 years after Hemanta's death, Gramophone Company of India releases at least one album by Hemanta every year, repackaging his older songs, because of the commercial viability of his songs. Hemanta's legacy still lives on through the numerous songs he has recorded, music he has composed and through many male singers in Bengal and the rest of India who continue to imitate his singing style... Suman Kalyanpur aka Suman Hemadey was born on January 28, 1937 in Dhaka, Bangladesh, (which was then a part of India under British Raj), her maiden name being Hemady. In 1943, her family moved to Mumbai (then Bombay), where she received her musical training. She married Ramanand S. Kalyanpur. Once Talat Mahmood heard Kalyanpur singing in a musical concert. Highly impressed, he recommended her to his music recording company, HMV. At age 17, she provided her first playback singing for the movie, Mangu (1954), singing the song Koi Pukāre Dheere Se Tujhe...... Kalyanpur provided playback singing for Miyān Bibi Rāzi (1960), Bāt Ek Rāt Ki (1962), Dil Ek Mandir (1963), Dil Hi To Hai (1963), Shagoon (1964), Jahān Āra (1964), Sānjh Aur Sawerā (1964), Noor Jahān (1967), and Pakeezāh (1971). She sang for composers Shankar Jaikishan, Roshan, Madan Mohan, S. D. Burman, Hemant Kumar, Chitragupta, S. N. Tripathi, and Ghulam Mohammed, singing the most songs for the first two in the list. She has sung over 740 movie and non-movie songs...... Kalyanpur recorded songs for movies in several languages besides Hindi: Marathi, Assamese, Gujarati, Kannada, Bhojpuri, Rajasthani, Bengali, Oriya, and Punjabi. Her recordings include devotional songs, ghazals, and thumris. In Marathi, Kalyanpur recorded for composers Sudhir Phadke, Dashrath Pujāri, and Ashok Patki. Some of her well-known Marathi songs are Rimjhhim Jharate Shrāwan Dhārā, Shabda Shabda Japun Thhewa, Re Kshanāchyā Sangateene, Jethe Sāgarā Dharanee Milate, Bhaktichyā Phulānchā Goad To Suwās, and Ketakichyā Banee Tethe Nāchalā Ga Mora.... On December 12, 2007, atheist Hemant Mehta spoke about his infamous eBay auction to the Humanists of West Suburban Chicagoland, a Membership Chapter of the American Humanist Association. The event took place at the DuPage Unitarian Universalist Church in Naperville, IL. In the video, he refers to the moment he decided to auction his church-going time on eBay and the initial media reaction to it. The auction eventually ended at a staggering $504. Vande Mataram from Bankim Chandra Chattopadyaya's "Anand Mutt" remains the classic Indian national song. This song was sung by Lata Mangeshkar and the Music Director was Hemant Kumar Mukhopadyaya. "Vande Mataram" was the Mantra, reciting which numerous Indians from Punjab to Tamilnaad braved death and fought the British occupation. Composed in simple Sanskrit, this is a national song of India and any day most nationalist Indians rate this song above "Jana Gana Mana", a song penned by Tagore welcoming King George as "Bharata Bhagya Vidhaata-Arbitrator of India's Destiny". The Islamist veto and the nehruvian appeasement of islamism prevented "Vande Matharam" from becoming the National Anthem of India. And in a remarkable parody of History, Indians have a song, sung first welcoming a foreign dignitary, as the national anthem. nehru as the first prime minister of India did enormous damage to the soul of India. nehru's foot prints can be seen in most of India's social, economic, defence and foreign affairs problems. One can not help noticing the superiority of this composition of "Vande Mataram", the complete one to the subsequent compositions which in comparison appear trite.
